After graduating, Mueni revealed that she was eager to explore what an architecture degree could accomplish outside the boundaries of its traditional field.

This experience inspired her to intern at Habitat for Humanity Kenya, a Non-Governmental Organisation.

I've accompanied my initial intentions with physically constructing a brick wall, orchestrating projects in informal settlements, and supervising computer literacy programs; tasks I never originally envisioned doing.

She emphasized that individuals do not lose their identity when they venture beyond their traditional field of work, but instead acquire new knowledge and skills.

2. Be diligent in your work.

Mueni emphasized the importance of making every effort to excel in all tasks, whether it's drawing up files or delivering client presentations, one must always give their best.

Ultimately, people often have high expectations, overlooking the importance of establishing a foundation of trust before expecting immediate fulfillment of key responsibilities.

Don't be lackadaisical with tiny responsibilities; if you're diligent about them, you'll be rewarded with more.

3. Be enthusiastic about learning

She told me that when she began, she reminded herself that she needed experience more than she needed to prove her intelligence.

This is because those who had come before her provided valuable insights, and it was wise to seek their assistance and learn from their experiences.

"If one isn't willing to look like an inexperienced novice, one will never become a confident expert," she continued.

4. Solve problems

Mueni advised newcomers to develop solutions, address any shortcomings and accept responsibility.

Instead of constantly wondering how to get the top office spot before reaching the age of 30, one must learn to appreciate the journey.
