Samsung's new TVs can find recipes for dishes in your favourite movies

If you grew up dreaming of tasting Bruce Bogtrotter's chocolate cake, you'll be pleased to learn that your wish may soon become a reality.

With its new televisions, users can learn how to prepare any dish they see on the screen with just one button.

Dubbed 'Samsung Food,' this futuristic feature, showcased by the technology giant, is set to be released this year on TVs.

In addition to aiding users in finding recipes from the screen, users will also be able to monitor grocery and takeaway deliveries ordered through the Samsung Food application.

This feature is introduced along with numerous other tools as part of Samsung's "Vision AI" initiative.

Samsung states that these tools will tap into AI to 'make your Samsung TV aware of its environment, adaptable to user preferences and autonomous in offering intuitive features'.

Samsung Food itself is not a new concept, having been available as a mobile app for a few years already.

In 2019, Samsung acquired the food app Whisk and then rebranded it as Samsung Food in 2023.

This app, available on both iOS and Android platforms, features AI-driven cooking tools, including a meal planner and step-by-step cooking instructions.

The premium version, which costs 6.99 dollars per month, also allows users to create recipes based on a picture.

Samsung announced today that several of the application's functionalities will be made available on its TVs shortly.

Although the television version won't have all the features of the mobile version, it will enable users to generate recipes based on the food items the television can 'see'.

It remains unclear how seamlessly the new TV-based service will integrate with Samsung's expanding network of connected devices.

Mobile users can pair the Samsung Food app with Samsung ovens, enabling them to preheat, set timers, and adjust the temperature according to recipe requirements.

It's unclear whether you can integrate your television into that network, given that information is not readily available.

However, Samsung states that TVs will be able to provide updates on orders placed through the Samsung Food application.

Samsung Food will be available on the flagship 4K QN90F, QN80F, and QN70F models, which are scheduled to be released this year.

Aside from a recipe app, the Korean electronics giant had another product in store.

At a press conference at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the company announced the launch of its Vision AI technology for a broad selection of TV models.

These features utilize advanced AI capabilities to enable televisions to react to on-screen content, anticipate users' requirements, and improve both audio and visual clarity.

As you use the "Click to Search" feature, you will have the ability to immediately find out more about the information currently displayed on the screen.

According to Samsung, this feature enables viewers to identify the actor in a scene, the location of a shot, or even the brand of clothes being worn by simply pressing a new AI button on the remote.

Moreover, 2025 Samsung TVs will come equipped with the 'Live Translate' feature, which will offer real-time subtitles for any content, regardless of the original language.
